The weather was good on the last Sunday, finally. Thanks to my wife, who always finds interesting things to do around, we had a chance to ride a steam locomotive in the region, near the boarder between Germany and the Netherlands (I still find it quite amazing to cross boarder so easily!). The train was run by the Dutch Railway, and they prepared everything so nicely, including poster advertisement, crew members, etc., setting the right mood. Although I don’t have any experience on an “actual” locomotive train, I somewhat felt I am in the past while in the train! Well, the view from the ride, which is mostly grass field and hills with cows from time to time, would have been quite similar. Although it was a short ride, beautiful view and warm but not too hot breeze really made me relaxed and chilled, perfect for the weekend. Of course, the train was quite slow. This is not a train that I would take when I go to Paris or somewhere far!
I was also glad that simply by living in Germany and learning the language, I can now also read many things in Dutch! I feel like it’s a bonus.
